Chirunga family portrait shoot

The Chirunga family is special to me as they are actually part of my family. My sister-in-law, her husband, and two kids are always part of our get-togethers so it was a pleasure to take their family photos.

Took some shots of some very proud moms and their very tall boys. Taking photos inside a gym can be a little tricky due to the lighting, however, with my portable flash gear, it was not an issue. One of the boy’s moms was not able to make it so it was very sweet of the moms for all take a picture together with him. Was also able to get some action shots showing their teamwork.

The weather was frightful but the pictures were delightful

The day of this shoot was so cold my fingers were shaking while I was trying to press the shutter. However, despite all of that we were able to get some great shots. First time shooting at the Crape Myrtle Trails in McKinney, TX. Hoping to go back when it’s warmer and the trees are flowering.

A windy Black Friday

I’ve shot on windy days but this day was by far the windiest. I use an umbrella on a light stand and at one point the wind blew out the umbrella and if it wasn’t for the young man who ran after it I would have lost it for good or been pretty damaged. Regardless I was pleased with the outcome. One of my favorites was when I had the brother and sister in the background and told them that now that their parents couldn’t see that they could do whatever they wanted. Got a great reaction from the mom on that one.

Pictures with Santa for a cause

Was referred by a friend to take pictures for this event. It was a fundraising event for a school and just required me to take some photos of kids and attendees with Santa. It gave me an opportunity to use my talent for a good cause.

A beautiful day with yellow and gray

It took some time to set this session up but ultimately it was for the best as the day we were able to get together was just beautiful. Sunny and cool. Major props though to the mom for picking out the color scheme of yellow and gray, it really made the pictures turn out great.

Silly siblings

Being a photographer I am fortunate to be able to do my kids school pictures. I feel that I am able to capture more true images of who they are. During this shoot Elaina did bunny ears on her brother so of course her brother had to do the same.

Portraits for a southern actor

I regularly take photos for a local theatre to provide them with some photo documentation of their plays. One recent shoot was for a play called August: Osage County. One of the actors, who played the sheriff, contacted me to take some portrait shots for him. The day of the shoot was cloudy and of course, as soon as we both arrived at the location it started to pour. During a short break, we made a run for it under a covered picnic area and were able to get the shots we needed. Below are some of those images.

Sunflowers in the sun

I’ve had the opportunity to take photos of this family a few times, they were actually one of my firsts when I was starting out. On this day we went to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Some of my favorites from this session were the girls holding the sunflowers.

A ninja in the park

Ninjas can be tough to photograph, but luckily this one wanted his photo taken. This was Aaron’s cosplay of Kakashi Hatake from Naruto. We met up at a park and he climbed some trees and ran a couple of times in some less than ideal footwear to get the shots. This was my first time creating some lightning in a photo but both Aaron and I were satisfied with the result.
